オンライン上でものを買う際、クレジット番号と、期限と名前だけをいれる方法というのは、いくらセキュリティがかかっているとはよろしくない。セキュリティについては敢えて言及しないが、この手のセキュリティであれば、その道のプロであれば情報を盗むことはそれほど難しいことではないだろう。

以前、BeepCard を紹介したが、今日紹介するのは 2004 年に設立された Gloshという会社だ。同社 は、カードリーダーを用意して、オンライン上の決済をやってしまおうという話だ。専用機器を USB でつなぎ、カードをスキャンしたときには、専用のランダムコードが発生しサーバーまで送られる。クレジットカードだけでなく、あらゆるオンライン対応となるカードが対象となるようだ。

ノートPC の一部にカードをスキャナーしたり、カードを画面にかざしたりする BeepCard はクレジットカードのみだが、それを日常使われる様々な ID カードに応用した。一枚岩ではセキュリティは難しいが、複数組み合わせればその安全度は高まるのは確かである。ただ、絶対破られないということはないのだが。

"Glosh" developed an innovative card-encoding method, a decoder to process these codes and a server to direct the user's browser to a specific Internet address according to the encrypted code.

The system allows the redirected website to identify a specific instance of a card that is in possession of a user. The Glosh technology connects paper, plastic or cardboard made cards with the Internet, and is directed specifically to the domestic market.
